Monica Turner is a name synonymous with dedication, resilience, and transformative leadership. Having joined Procter & Gamble (P&G) in 1987 as a sales representative fresh out of the University of Oklahoma, Turner has risen through the ranks over the past 38 years to become the President of P&G North America. Under her stewardship, P&G’s North American operations have achieved over $43 billion in annual sales, representing more than half of the company’s total revenue. Her leadership has been instrumental in driving a $13 billion increase in incremental sales over five years.

A Journey of Dedication and Growth

Starting her career in Wichita, Kansas, Turner worked with major retail accounts such as Kmart and Family Dollar. Her ascent through various roles, including Vice President and Senior Vice President, culminated in her appointment as President of North America in 2021. Throughout her tenure, she has overseen iconic brands like Tide, Pampers, Olay, Crest, and Gillette, demonstrating a deep commitment to both the company’s growth and its people.

People-Centric Leadership

Turner’s leadership philosophy centers on the belief that “our people are our greatest asset”. She emphasizes the importance of investing in employees to foster an innovative and entrepreneurial culture. Her approach has led to the development of programs like the Relaunch Program, which welcomes back professionals who have taken a break from the workforce, primarily in STEM fields. Additionally, P&G’s 70-20-10 methodology combines on-the-job learning, mentorship, and structured training to develop talent at every career stage.

Overcoming Challenges and Embracing Opportunities

Throughout her career, Turner has faced and overcome numerous challenges. She views these challenges as “high-impact problems to solve,” transforming obstacles into opportunities. Her “possibilities mindset” has been a driving force in her ability to lead P&G through periods of transformation and growth.

Recognition and Legacy

Turner’s contributions have not gone unnoticed. She has been honored with the ESSENCE 2025 Black Women in Business Award and was named one of the Wall Street Journal’s Top 250 Board Directors. Her influence extends beyond P&G, serving on the Board of Directors for Allstate and chairing the Board of Trustees at the University of Cincinnati. She has also held the position of Board Chair for NextUp, a nonprofit organization.

Looking Ahead

As she transitions into her new role focused on strategic growth, Turner remains committed to inspiring others to believe in the possibilities before them. Her advice to young professionals is to “be unapologetically you,” embrace risks, and view every experience as an opportunity to learn and grow. Her legacy is not just in the billions she has helped generate but in the lives she has touched and the leaders she has nurtured.
