In a groundbreaking development for the world of science, women researchers from over 40 countries have come together to establish the Global Women in Space Research Alliance (GWSRA) , an international coalition focused on advancing female participation in astrophysics, robotics, and planetary research.
The initiative is co-led by Dr. Katie Mack from the United States, Dr. Anima Patil-Sabale from India (NASA scientist), and Dr. Chiaki Mukai from Japan, the first Asian woman in space. The alliance aims to promote mentorship programs, cross-country collaborations, and open data projects to strengthen gender balance in the aerospace sector.
Dr. Mack remarked during the announcement, “For too long, women have been outnumbered in laboratories and launch rooms. This alliance proves we’re no longer waiting for a seat , we’re building our own mission control.”
