Gazal Kalra grew up on the move, a military child who learned early that grit and resilience were the only constants. This nomadic upbringing, combined with a deep-seated desire to create meaningful change, fueled her. After a stellar academic career, she plunged into the rough-and-tumble world of Indian logistics with a simple but radical idea: to humanize it.

Alongside her co-founder, she built Rivigo, a tech-enabled logistics company that introduced a “relay trucking model”. This innovation meant drivers could swap trucks at pit stops and get home every day, transforming a brutal, solitary job into a humane one. Gazal’s authenticity and empathy quickly earned her the reputation of a “Woman of Mettle” in a male-dominated industry. Rivigo grew into a unicorn, but her restless spirit was already searching for the next problem to solve.

In 2018, she made a quiet but significant pivot, stepping away from the successful enterprise she had co-founded. She saw another challenge in the vast and unorganized Indian market: consumer products. Her new brand, Nuuk, would focus on sustainability and aesthetics—a design-first, environmentally conscious approach to home appliances. It was a world away from the dusty highways and rumbling trucks of Rivigo, but the mission remained the same: to create products that improved people’s lives.

Gazal was once again the founder building from the ground up. She meticulously focused on Nuuk’s product design, materials, and ethical supply chains. The brand quickly gained traction, and the awards soon followed. One day, while holding a prestigious design award for one of Nuuk’s products, she smiled. It wasn’t just a win for the company, but for the principle that you could build a profitable business while staying true to your values. Her journey proved that a “Woman of Mettle” wasn’t defined by a single company or industry, but by the courage to start over with purpose. Nuuk was her next act, and she was already writing its story with her trademark authenticity and determination.
