Have you been sitting on a business idea, waiting for the push you need to bring it to life? Too often, financial support is the missing link — not because of a lack of ambition, but because the systems make it harder for Black women entrepreneurs to get capital. That’s why grants can be a game-changer: you don’t take on debt, and you keep full control of your business.
Good news: some real funding opportunities are open right now, offering everything from a few hundred dollars to $25,000 to help you grow. Whether you need help with marketing, inventory, expansion, or hiring, here are a few grants worth applying for now.
Grants You Should Know About
Wish Local Empowerment Program
This grant awards $500 to $2,000 to Black-owned small businesses with 20 or fewer employees. It’s designed to help grassroots entrepreneurs who are making a difference in their communities. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
HerRise Microgrant
For women-of-color–owned businesses earning under $1 million in revenue, this grant gives $1,000 every month. It’s ideal for covering operational costs or small growth expenses.
DigitalUndivided’s Breakthrough Program
If you’re a Black or Latina woman running a tech or innovation business that’s been in operation for at least a year with some revenue, this one might be for you. You can receive $5,000 in grant funding, along with hands-on training, mentorship, and access to a supportive community.
NAACP PowerShift Entrepreneur Grant
This is one of the more substantial grants — $25,000 — for Black entrepreneurs looking to scale their operations. Applications close on November 1, so now’s the time to get your materials ready.
Faire Small Business Grant
Focused on independent retailers, this grant awards $5,000 in cash and credits to help shop owners stock up and grow. The deadline is at the end of September, so hurry if your shop needs new inventory or expansion funds.
Galaxy of Stars Grants
Women and minority entrepreneurs are eligible for this program. Awards can range from $2,450 to over $20,000, often bundled with services and resources beyond just cash. The deadline is September 30, 2025.
The Freed Fellowship Grant
This one is all about consistency. Every month, $500 is awarded to a small business owner, along with coaching and feedback. At year’s end, monthly winners compete for a larger $2,500 prize.
