The NASSCOM Foundation, in partnership with Tieto (Tietoevry), has launched a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative to empower 250 rural women entrepreneurs with digital and business skills and ongoing support to help them grow their small businesses. The programme is part of a broader effort to include rural women more fully in India’s digital economy and entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Under the initiative, women from rural backgrounds received training to enhance their digital literacy, market access, financial management, and business planning capabilities, enabling them to operate more efficiently and scale their ventures sustainably. By combining classroom sessions with hands-on mentoring and peer exchange, the CSR project aims to give participants the confidence and tools to compete in today’s tech-driven business landscape.
Organisers say this model — where corporate partners, community organisations and facilitators work together — helps reduce gaps in opportunities for women entrepreneurs from rural areas and supports economic inclusion, income growth and self-reliance.
